What is EYFS?
Every child deserves the best possible start to life and support to fulfil their potential. A child's experience in the early years has a major impact on their future life chances. When parents choose to use any form of childcare they want to know that the provision will keep their child safe and help them to thrive; EYFS is the framework that provides that assurance.

There has been a lot of talk in the media of how aspects of EYFS force children into a learning environment from a very young age.

Our understanding of EYFS and the way in which we plan to implement the framework in the setting is based on the understanding that children learn new things each and every day without ever once having to sit at a desk and ‘learn’ in a formal way.

We are strong advocates of learning through play and allowing a child’s own natural curiosity to drive the things they learn about. We will never force a child to sit down and learn something in a prescriptive manner and we will never place any expectation upon a child. We are firm believers in letting children be children and we believe this mantra can hold true even with the implementation of EYFS.

If you have any worries/concerns about how EYFS will affect you child please get in touch with us and we will be happy to talk to you in depth about any worries you may have. For more information on the specific areas of EYFS please see here http://nationalstrategies.standards.dcsf.gov.uk/node/83936
